doctor's report: the latest grace stats!

 height - 23 and one eighth inches (95th percentile)
 weight - 12 pounds, seven ounces (75th percentile) 

the percentiles mean that, with height for example, out of 100 babies, only five babies are longer than she is. tall baby! and therefore only about 25 babies would weigh more than she does. 

anyhow. grace gossip: monday (9/21) she had her first shots (wah!) she was so calm and observant and suddenly - "OW! WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?" you'll all be proud to know that she took the whole ordeal very well. grace fell back on her favorite coping mechanism: sleep.

she's growing quickly. the doctor pointed out that it would be frightening if we all doubled our weight every three months. anyway, the weather is starting to cool off so we need to bundle her up a little more these days when we go for walks. 

she's learning to suck her thumb but hasn't quite gotten the hang of her hands yet. we're waiting on that one. and she coos at us all the time. i've formed a theory that babies *can* talk, they're just having their conversations one syllable at a time. if you were to take all of grace's sounds over the course of a month and string them together, you would probably hear her say, "No thank you, my diaper is wet and besides, the sorbet is too tart."
